Circa 1993 too & just completely-awesome.. I'll never ever forget the first few times I heard this baby give it's clear-tone digital Roar! With Autzen'93 really coming to the fore-front of my Dead Head mind! Dirty too - when Garcia wanted dirty. Tube tones sounded so sweet out of this one, I mean just look out below during Space!!
The Cripe' story' if you aren't already familiar - is indeed... Quite the story' - lots of happy, and lots of tragic too... But, I'll let you do your own research on that topic. This was indeed one of Two (2) Axes that Steve Cripe made for Garcia...
He sent Jerry the 1st Guitar for free... Just a little Dead Fan Thank You Jerry! -- then, Garcia liked it so incredibly much that he set up a time to meet-up with Steve before a Show - told him how incredibly much he liked it... And cash-commissioned him to manufacture another! And that one - best know as " Uncle Sam Top-Hat " looked Sweet!
