Shirt - made for the' Traditional' G. Chinese New Year run of Shows at the Oakland Coliseum!!! - as I sure bet that This! Chinese New Year Shirt brings back the Memories! -- just like a Train... As speaking for myself, there was just nothing! Like Grateful Dead Chinese New Year & Mardi Gras Shows!! As these were always a little more low-key, versus high-profile Shows... At least to the' Civilians' - versus the Die-Hard Deadhead! And too, on the West Coast - especially Bay Area wise, and north there of - these were often the more-so' dreary' weather times outside... So, there was just Nothing! Quite as inviting as walking into the Good Ol' Oakland Coliseum!!! Truly the Band's " Home Court " for all of the 1990's! It & Shoreline too - naturally. But, the really nice part of these runs were that the Band would seem to really take it upon themselves to " build-up " to the Final Night's Magic! As after all, how can a killer Parade!
Go down on the inside of the Arena - if the Grateful Dead isn't on Fire! Well, they really always did a fine-job taking care of that.
And, for this'93 run - the Band was really in the early midst of a yet-again! Or, as some do like to say...
Since'92 was marked with some strong Shows - and lots! Of them, it also ended up meaning that the Band decided to take some much-needed time off... Deciding to take a little collective break, instead of going forth with the planned'92 Fall Tour. Just as one might expect - some time off was really helpful! And, the Grateful Dead were really back & bringing the Heat!!
This January Chinese New Year run... And also at the Mardi Gras run in February - just around a month later! To make matters even Cooler! Shirts for these two Show runs, that Fans have been Crazy! About - for over 30-Years now!!
The 1st Shirt, was this one here... The " Year Of The Rooster " Shirt! - Date & Venue-Specific for not only the 1/24,25,26/1993 Oakland run - but... Also recognition-specific for the 1/26/1993 " Year Of The Rooster " Show! - where even Carlos Santana came out to play with the Band!!!And, the other one of these made - which, I'm hoping you are also familiar with? Was for the " Mardi Gras " run! And, these two almost look like a' Pair' - which, of course... And, if you are like me - and really dig your " Black " Rock & Roll style Concert Shirt...
