Rateful Dead Members considered' Cool-enough! Mickey Hart himself wore one of these " High In The Rockies " tees for a now-famous set of Grateful Dead publicity photos that circulated the press-wire, just shortly after the 1980 " Go To Heaven " Album release! Mickey wore this one to play on stage with the Dead, for certain - and... If my memory serves my correctly, I think Bill Kreutzmann might have even stage worn it too? However, I'm unable to locate an image of Billy stage-wearing it...
So, I'll have to say that I'm not totally certain. My Good Ol' Memory is telling me that he did! - you know, for what that's worth... Wow, and another thing about this Shirt design - is that is is truly hard to actually pick the' Best' part... Because the whole entire Shirt is just Amazing! Firstly, this Jackson design on the front just stands all on its own... A Bright Yellow Sun with Orange Sun Rays Shining! Is Rising over the Colorado Rockies Flat Irons, and the' Face' of this Sunshine is created by the Drifting White Clouds themselves! And Secondly, the Image on the back side of this Shirt is just' Quintessential' Grateful Dead! Symbol of The Grateful Dead! Of FD-26 Poster Fame, originally in 1966.
A Poster that many Dead Fans consider to be the Holy Grail! Of all Grateful Dead Posters. And, in the Black-line fashion of how this image is printed on this Shirt? As it explodes off of the Light-Blue shirt material background! And thirdly, the Color of this Shirt!
Color to compliment these designs, and especially the front design... As when looking close - it seems that no-color could work better! And, last but most-definitely not least... Just one of the Finest! Grateful Dead Shirt slogans of All-Time --- " High In The Rockies "!!!
The Art of Rock " Perfection " here, my fellow Dead Fans. Do keep in mind too - being 1980 & all... This was the 15th Year Anniversary! Both the Band, the Media, and of course... I remember listening to a rare radio interview years & years ago...
And listened to Jerry Garcia talk about this a bit - and it was pretty-cool, and because it was Garcia saying it... They kind of decided on these Shows as the' Official' Celebration, due to lack of any type of serious planning... And, no one really did anything about making any kind of an' Official' Celebration. And hey, they were only 1/2 way thorough too, at this point...1965 to 1995 - " Thirty Years Upon Out Heads ", in the long-run... So yes indeed, this is a way Big! One here, in the grand scheme of all things " Grateful Dead ", and it should also be noted too naturally... That these 2-Shows were Hot!!!!!
Two (2) seriously vital Childhood Friends of mine... And Cassette Tapes that went on almost every-single Road Trip!
